The Rose City-My Portland

Today was a nice treat. One of those days where the hours just seem to tick in your favor. Today, my sister, my nephew Graham, and I got to see my dad and tour the Rose Garden, which sits above downtown Portland in the West Hills. My dad works on an ocean going tug, but sometimes he makes runs on the river so we got to tour the boat and Graham got to "steer"... :-)

The Rose Garden was gorgeous. I've been to lots of "destination gardens" that cost a small fortune, but this one is completely free and incredibly peaceful. Today there was a celtic harpist and the atmosphere was lovely. Going to a place like that makes you stop and, well...smell the roses!!...and appreciate the small things in life and the beautiful free gifts God gives us that we speed by everyday....
